WHAT IS SIN?
The Bible tells us that we are all sinners. That means we have
violated God's laws. No matter how good we try to be, no one is
without sin.
"As it
is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10
"For all have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
God is our Creator and our Judge. He is a perfect judge and
cannot overlook or excuse our sin, even though He loves us very
much. So, every person is condemned to death and separation from
God. He sentences sinners to Hell, a place created for the devil
and his angels.
"For the wages of sin [is] death; but
the gift of God [is] eternal life
through Jesus Christ
our Lord. " Romans 6:23
Mankind is doomed to eternal punishment in Hell, banned from
Heaven, and forever separated from God.
WHAT IS SALVATION?
That part of the story is sad, but praise God that is not the
end! See, God does love us and provided a way for us to be
forgiven without compromising HIs justice.
"But
God commendeth His love towards us in that while we were
yet sinners, Christ
died for us" Romans 5:8
He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to bear our judgment. Jesus came
to earth as the representative of man. He was God, innocent and
sinless, yet He took ALL the sin of the world upon Him and paid
our penalty by shedding His own blood on the cross. God's demand
for justice was satisfied.
"For he hath made
him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that
we might be made the
righteousness of God in him. " 2 Corinthians 5:21
Because of what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross, it is now
possible for the fellowship between man and God can be restored!
